This department provides a pharmaceutical services such as dispensing, pharmaceutical patient care, inventory management and quality control of medicine, preparation of unreleased drugs for advanced treatment based on the permission of the ethics committee, sterile preparations such as anticancer agents for injection, managing information for the proper use, planning and implementation of risk mitigation strategies of pharmaceuticals. Moreover, satellite pharmacy is installed in the all ward. Clinical pharmacist is providing pharmaceutical care to hospitalized patients of all. In cooperation with the physicians and surgeons, clinical pharmacist is in charge of early detection of side effects and designing prescription based on pharmacokinetics.
The department undertakes nutritional management of inpatients by providing meals suited to patients’ condition. Care is taken so that meals provided during hospitalization can also be easily prepared at home and that they incorporate seasonal ingredients and food for special occasions. This department offers nutritional counseling, in which specific measures that can be easily implemented in one’s daily lifestyle are proposed.
This department conducts various tests including blood, urine, and stool tests. It is composed of eight divisions: Central Blood Collection, Specimen Reception Management, Emergency Testing, Chemical Analysis Testing, Immunoassay Testing, Blood and Coagulation Testing, Urine and Stool Testing, and Data Processing. The department works hard to report precise results as quickly as possible.
This department is a laboratory that is in direct contact with patients. Various physiological tests including circulatory, neurological, and respiratory function and ultrasound are performed every day. At the Sleep Center, all-night polysomnography is performed with short-term hospitalization. Tests are also carried out collaborating with the Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Operating Theater, Health Management Center, and Toranomon Hospital Saitama Clinic.
This department specializes in the infectious disease testing. Microscopic examination, bacterial culture and their identifiation, and drug susceptibility testing are conducted on various specimens such as blood, sputum, pus, and urine. These tests are performed for general bacteria and acid-fast bacteria such as Mycobacterium tuberculosis. The fial results of these cultures require several days; however, antigen tests and genetic tests have been recently utilized to aid in rapid diagnosis. This department is also responsible for tests related to the prevention of hospital infections.
In this department, blood tests for transfusion such as blood typing and cross matching are performed in addition to the delivery, storage, management, and irradiation of transfusion blood preparations. In addition, it provides clinical support such as autologous blood collection, storage, and management; autologous firin glue preparation; and cryopreservation of hematopoietic stem cells, along with transplant-related tests such as CD34+ cell count measurement, HLA testing, and anti-HLA antibody testing.
The department staffs have performed advanced GI endoscopy and bronchoscopy in many cases. The latest endoscopic devices such as NBI or capsule endoscopy are used to diagnose the diseases of the esophagus (throat), stomach, duodenum, small intestine, and large intestine; moreover, early stage cancers of GI tracts are resected with curative and minimally invasive methods such as endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD). Minimally invasive endoscopic treatments (stenting, lithotripsy, etc.) are actively used to treat the diseases of the pancreas and biliary duct, and bronchoscopy is used to accurately diagnose respiratory diseases.

The Department of Rehabilitation, comprising the Departments of Physical Therapy (PT), Occupational Therapy (OT), and Speech Therapy (ST), endeavors to aid the recovery of physical functions lost due to diseases of the brain, spinal cord, musculoskeletal and respiratory systems, or major cardiac vessels. The department uses several evaluation and training methods in order to enhance the home and social rehabilitation of patients.
In the Clinical Psychology Section, clinical psychologists perform many types of psychological tests and psychological treatment (individual counseling, group work etc.) in line with instructions from doctors from each department. Psychological tests include intelligence testing, psychological personality testing, and cognitive function testing. Clinical–psychological treatment is performed in response to the psychological problems that can accompany various physical diseases. These may include various neuroses, psychosomatic diseases, eating disorders, and terminal care.
This department comprises three divisions: X-ray examination, nuclear medicine, and radiotherapy. Each division is outfited with high-performance equipment to execute advanced examinations and therapies. The department aims to perform integrated diagnosis and treatment in close cooperation with each clinical department. And the PACS system has been set up so that images are fimless and can be viewed on electronic medical record terminals located throughout the hospital.
This department supports the maintenance of advanced medical care from both clinical and operating viewpoints. It cooperates with other departments through the operationalization and maintenance checkup of life-support equipment as well as other major medical devices located throughout the each department in hospital. It also works to reduce medical staff anxiety by cooperating with predominantly medical equipment safety management staff involved in medical quality and safety sections in order to maintain the established safety management systems.
